DCEO (Executive Director of Education) Appointment

Broad Horizons Education Trust is pleased to announce that, following an open recruitment process, Summer Turner will be joining the Trust as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Executive Director of Education).

Chris Snudden, Chair of the Trust, said: "I am really pleased that Summer Turner will be joining the Trust as DCEO.  She is a nationally respected expert and author on curriculum and leadership. She has a strong track record of hands-on experience in training senior leaders, spanning primary, secondary, and trust wide initiatives. Her knowledge of educational performance left us convinced that she would provide outstanding leadership of our education agenda across the Trust.

Summer Turner will take up the DCEO (Executive Director of Education) post on 1 September 2024.  

Summer Turner - Biography

Summer Turner began her career as an English teacher in London before rising to become Head of English and then a senior leader responsible for teaching and learning. Summer also became a regular tweeter, blogger and speaker on education leading to her publishing a book on curriculum and assessment with Bloomsbury in 2016. 

 

Summer made the move to Norfolk in 2017 when she was recruited to lead curriculum and assessment development across a trust of primary and secondary schools. Specialising first in developing English across primary and secondary, and the wider curriculum at KS3, Summer later became Director of Curriculum where she was responsible for the entirety of curriculum and assessment development and the corresponding continued professional development for teachers within the Trust. 

 

After working as an Associate Principal in a primary school in Great Yarmouth and as an Associate Vice Principal at a connected secondary school to enact school improvement, Summer continued her school leadership journey and  joined Jane Austen College, first as Vice Principal and then Principal until making the move to Broad Horizons Education Trust.
